Polaris Industries Materials Manager in Riverside, California

As the Materials Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the production of our world-class suspension components by ensuring the seamless management of materials. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of 12 purchasing and materials planning professionals.

  • Ensure inventory accuracy and compliance for the plant.

  • Develop, implement, and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within the Materials function.

  • Analyze material processes and optimize them for efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Ensure adherence to inventory, receiving, and shipping policies and procedures, collaborating with other Polaris sites for consistency.

  • Manage supplier relationships and performance.

  • Support and guide the implementation of flexible manufacturing methods and pull systems.

  • Develop efficient, safe, and economical material movement methods within manufacturing.

  • Evaluate and recommend improvements for manufacturing planning processes.

  • Plan and organize material handling, warehouse, and shipping functions to maximize resource utilization.

  • Assess training needs and drive continuous skill improvement within the department.

  • Collaborate with other Polaris site Materials Managers to manage the Central Planning Group.

  • Participate in annual forecasting and establish future pre-production plans.

  • Work with Polaris Sourcing to enhance supply chain management.

  • Manage departmental budget and contribute to long-term plant goals and objectives.

  • Develop and report on inventory budget and turns.

  • Engage in new product development programs to onboard new suppliers and release new materials.

  • Develop and present monthly performance metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 5+ years of Materials Management experience within a manufacturing facility.

  • 2+ years of people management experience.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel.

  • APICS certification is a plus.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

  • Experience in both office and manufacturing environments.
